Black Betty Moves into The Forresters

The Forresters will host American-style barbeque, Black Betty, on Sundays.

Hailing from Petersham’s The Oxford Tavern, Black Betty BBQ has made quite a name for itself thanks to its piled-high plates of saucy, slow-smoked meat and comforting sides.

On Australia Day eve the smoker will make Surry Hills its second home, taking up residence in the leafy beer garden of Drink’n’Dine stalwart The Forresters every Sunday afternoon.

For those of us who haven’t yet made it to the USA’s southern parts, this is about as close as we’ll come to the cuisine at home. Meats are cooked for up to 18 hours and served in 100-gram portions for maximum taste testing. Expect to get messy with ribs, pulled pork, dino ribs and burnt-end beans from 12pm until sold out, with weekly specials on rotation.

Add to that bargain $10 Bloody Marys – garnished with fried chicken – and live tunes from 3pm and this may well be your new favourite spot for a Sunday session.
