How To: Sheer Pieces in Winter

At once playful and elegant, sheer is a trend that we've seen continue fashion week after fashion week. We find inspiration on how to wear it when the weather gets cooler.

Wearing sheer pieces is a popular way to make an outfit seductive as well as elegant. Throughout this year, designers leaned towards using sheer material as a textural, structural element, rather than purely just to show some skin - both a refined and practical take, especially coming into the colder months.

Macgraw presented unequivocally feminine high-necked shirts and high-waisted skirts covered in lacy floral cut outs; Akira showed filmy tops that fall below the knee, modelled over cream silk pants or beneath winter coats. He used the same translucent material in tones of nude and dark red, wound in layers to create a semi-opaque shift dress. Scroll through our favourite demonstrations of the trend in the gallery above.
